Tried at a local pub this week during a business trip to Denver. $8/pour, quite expensive...not sure I’d buy again or buy a full bottle. Didn’t really come across as “peated”, felt more like a light speysider instead. Faint aromas of shortbread; palette is sweet, like corn candy with a touch of oak. Interesting to try a local only whiskey.
About this bottle
This American single malt is produced using Colorado-grown malted barley. The barley is grown, malted and peat-smoked in Alamosa at the Colorado Malting Company. Every batch of Spirit Hound's whiskey is released as a single barrel. While each barrel is unique, similar underlying qualities exist in each single barrel selection. Aged for a minimum of two years in full-sized new American white oak barrels, each barrel then goes through a sensory panel prior to release.

Very interesting whiskey. Heavy vanilla with a bit of peat smoke and honey. I'm excited for this distillery to get a few more years under their belt as I think they've got something great here but there's still a little bit of bitterness and heat on the finish, which really shows up if you try their cask strength products.
Young scotch profile, light caramel color, malt shines through, easier sipper if you like the catch type of profile
The fruitiness and slight smoke roll across the palate from start to finish. Very good, lightly balanced whisky.
