We're only two weeks into 2026, and I already have a strong contender for my whisky of the year. The nose of this Springbank 12 is sweet and sour, slightly mineral and very well balanced, leaning towards mango, citrus zest and soft wood spices. Brown sugar, custard and a touch of soot chime in. On the palate, juicy oranges, lemon drops and peppermint give way to pineapple, grapefruit and bonfire ashes. Creamy mouthfeel. Lingering notes of salty licorice, lime juice and molasses reveal the subtle influence of the rum casks. One malt to rule them all! RATING: 4.4/5.0 stars ≙ 90 pts → SUPERB [-]
