The allure of barrel-proof bourbon is its purity and authenticity. No dilution. No secrets. Unadulterated. It's not for the faint of heart. As a celebrity-concocted olfactory meal, Stagg Jr. explodes in a full-on assault: think Gordon Ramsey meets Arnold Schwarzenegger. The clear, dark mahogany in the glass hides a pervasive nose exuding apple pie, dried apricot, orange oil, creme brûlée, char, and freshly hewn oak. These are amped up even further on the palate, bathed in vanilla extract and some woody tannins whose sweet bitterness masquerades as cafe cubano, finishing long. The overall experience is sweet with a some tannic bitterness, which caps some of the bourbon's more hedonistic attributes. 4.25 on the Distiller scale. There is no age statement, but Stagg Jr is believed to be around eight years old. It's hard to believe that other barrels of this bourbon wait another seven to eight years to mature into George T. Stagg. Unfiltered. 126.4 proof. N.B.: All spirts tested neat in a Glencairn glass.

Whoa. I love Stagg Jr and this is great. Nose is candied caramel apples, cherries and marshmallows. Getting butter after it’s sat a week. Palate is not quite as hot as the proofage suggests. Slightly more mellow that B13. More cherries - almost a cherry gummy. Apples and caramel continue. Still my favorite bourbon. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3. Bad - Multiple flaws. 4. Below average - Not bad, but many things I'd rather have. 5. Good - Just average. 6. Very Good - Better than average. 7. Great - Well above average. 8. Excellent - In a league of its own. 9. Incredible - An all-time favorite. 10. Perfect

An intense, Bourbon by Buffalo Trace Distillery. It has a bitter birth with notes of bitter oak, vanilla & brown sugar; while a sour life adds notes of dark chocolate & rye spiciness; that leads to a long & rich death with hints of cherry, candy, corn, clove & smoke.

Sweet carmel, burned sugar, cherry, rye spicy, and lingering oak. Barrel proof full body but not over hot, especially with an ice chunk to open it up. I've come to really appreciate these Stagg Jr's for their burley nature. 63.20 ABV, Batch 10, bought in 2017-18.

Some heat with hints of caramel, honey and cherry on the palate. Lingering finish that stays with you. Very good if you enjoy barrel proof bourbons. This batch (batch 10) is just a notch below Batch 12 in my opinion.

For me this beat out 13 which is supposed to be so good. I did it blind twice... same result. Yeah maybe I’m not most experienced guy but I know which one I would drink more
