SLB Drinks 116 Proof 58%ABV Barrel #20191220-4 Barrel Dumped 11-29-2023 Aroma - wow.. that barrel, funky oak note is extremely unique and quite bold— like an attic, musty. Some bright red apples and pears come through and some vinous notes as well. As it opens, chocolate covered raisins mixed with leather. Slight red hot hint. Taste - Nice balance of herbal, floral and sugar candied notes. Caramel apples, honey towards the back of the palate. Smoke on the finish. Overall - This is definitely a unique whiskey. The youthfulness is evident though in my opinion and it doesn’t drink like a cask strength whiskey… The finish isn’t very long., the viscosity is minimal, and the proof really isn’t all that noticeable. Getting a lot of Chattanooga Tennessee Whiskey vibes here (which is also 2 years) Worth the purchase???? - Not unless you have extra cash lying around or are looking to try something unique. It is definitely a try-before-you-buy (if possible) Dont get me wrong… it is good… but for $70 on a 2 year aged whiskey is a bit ridiculous. Drinks closer to a $50-$60 in my honest opinion.

I got my hands on a very good looking Bourbon bottle called Still Austin, a limited release single barrel cask strength expression, that comes at 58%abv. On the nose, it starts with a Bloody Mary cocktail note that i have only found on a Hudson Baby Bourbon from New York. Tree tomato; bubbaloo chewing gum. Red fruits. On the palate, it starts with Red fruits, herbal notes, like the little plants bartenders put in Mojitos. Beautifully sour. Aftertaste is all about the classic sour mash from any good bourbon. Tobacco and cigars. Spices; herbal. Overall, this is a very enjoyable bourbon, despite the 58%abv, it doesn't feel alcoholic at all. I would buy it again just to have another bottle since it is good looking. The "juice" itself is good, but i will hardly remember it. My score for it is 84 over 100.

Nose: Musty oak, floral, chocolate, and a bright fruit note. Palate: Caramel, cherry, black peper, and leather. Finish is long with a fight between vanilla and bakikg spice. Super sweet, but balanced by the learher and spice notes. Overall: I am a big fan of this whiskey. Like my last review, I am incredibly impressed since this age statement is minimum of 2 years. However, I believe the Texas heat provides a quicker aging process and the team down at Still Austin have done an excellent job with grain selection. Would highly reccomend.

An intense, Cask Strength, Single Barrel, Straight Bourbon Whiskey that is crafted in Texas with local grain. It has a mash bill of 70% white corn, 25% rye & 5% malted barley; aged for a minimum of 2 years in American white oak barrels before being bottled at 116 proof. It has an aromatic birth with notes of grain, wood, nuts & baking spices; while a rich life adds notes of butterscotch, brown sugar & pecan pie; that led to a long & spicy hot death with notes of oak & cinnamon.
