Nose: Bright, fruity berry notes. Raspberry, strawberry, kiwi. Hazelnut and milk chocolate (Nutella almost). Taste: Maltier than most Stranahan's. Dusty malt, nutty up front. Finish: Tart, fruity finish with the raspberries and strawberries from the nose. Longer finish then expected.
About this bottle
Stranahan's Bushmills Cask is the first release in their Distillery Exclusive series. It begins with 100% malted barley which is distilled and aged for four years in new American oak casks with a level char #3. Then the whiskey is transferred to former Bushmills single malt Irish whiskey barrels for 3 more years to finish its maturation. This is available at Stranahan's distillery in Denver exclusively as of March 31, 2021.

It’s still an American whiskey, but the rich shortbread notes of the Irish shine in both the smell and taste. It’s not as rich as something like the Redbreast, but it’s a wonderful combination of American and Irish
Just a lovely whiskey. The Bushmills Casks add a vanilla shortbread note near the finish. Way better than I expected!
