Talnua Bourbon Cask & Stave Series Whiskey

Nose first displays the beautiful malted barley that can do no wrong in any glass of mine, followed by a brash punch of the bourbon staves with sweet caramel and baked sweets. Palate and finish displays similar bifurcation but is generally flatter. Is this the distillery, the proof, or the irish single pot style im not used to?

Very light and tingly, vanilla mostly, but thin on flavor. Alcohol doesn't balance well either. Richness is ok, but it needs some fine tuning.
