About this bottle

First introduced in Europe in 2018 as Flor de Sevilla, Tanqueray Sevilla Orange Gin hits US shelves as of August 2019. The flavored gin was inspired by an original recipe from Charles Tanqueray from his travels to the groves of Spain in the 1860s. Tanqueray Sevilla Orange gin is made with bittersweet Seville oranges and orange blossom. Bottled at 41.3% ABV, it hits the Miami and Orlando markets first with other US markets to follow. (SRP $23.99)

What is this? It tastes like Triple Sec. People must just love sugar beyond all reason. The amount of sugar you must acquire to put into a product that is 40% alcohol and infused with dozens of botanicals in order to make it taste like a pack of Splenda has got to be horrific. Also I see here on the bottle the use of Yellow#5 and the touting of using “Natural Flavors and Certified Colors”. Wtf is a certified color? Oh I see….you must think I’m just another drooling soulless mannequin, ripe for the mind-fracking harvest that can be taken in by a genuine sounding word salad huh? So that means this is just another fraudulent marketing ploy with no real fruit and no real innovation just a fancy name for the worlds most common fruit and a flavor profile that would please infants worldwide huh? Just more sweet generic candy for the dumb masses huh? IS THAT WHAT YOU THINK WE ARE!?!? FFFFFFFUUUUUUHUU!!!!! *hulk rages and smashes entire kitchen*

Nose: Jaffas (if you're not Australian you need to Google it). This smells exactly like Jaffas. For the rest of the world: orange syrup and/or orange curacao. Palate: The arrival is all bittersweet orange. As it develops it expands, slowly losing sweetness and spreading throughout the palate. A tiny juniper note emerges, but little else. It's rather one-note. Finish: Medium/long. Sweet orange zest and faint juniper-herbal notes on the bittersweet aftertaste. This is heavy on the Seville orange and not subtle, so although it's OK for an occasional change you wouldn't want it to be the only gin in the cupboard. In fact, every time I've used this gin I've enjoyed it, but instantly reached for a "classic" gin to make my next drink. Tanqueray has other such flavoured gins in their portfolio and whilst they are all OK I do feel that they are really just a novelty. "Average" : 77/100 (2.5 stars)

Clearly and convincingly orange forward, very sweet, slightly bitter, sticky orangey aftertaste. Junipery Tanqueray base notes still faintly in the background. Decent fruity summer offering especially with tonic and ice cubes, but a little too one-dimensional to be truly outstanding. Priced regularly but have gotten it as cheap as 16 EUR per Bottle before. Edit: Downgraded from 4.5 to 4.0 following another sampling with more experience.

Massively disappointed. Tanqueray Gin is one of my go-to gins along with The Botanist, Bombay Sapphire, Beefeater Export version and Sakurao. This Flor De Sevilla Gin seems to be trying to compete with ghastly offerings from Gran Marnier and Cointreau. Sickly sweet, horrible, even a Fever Tree tonic cannot redeem this. Avoid. Discontinue please.

when you see it - get it! better yet, get 2! this is a very good drinking gin. got a couple bottles at one of the European duty free shops because it looked like something completely different from the usual DF selection. it made my summer just so much tastier. very flavourful, very balanced, very natural-tasting. happy times all around

I was expecting a strong orange flavour but this was actually fairly subtle which was a nice surprise. The orange and citrus is certainly present though, almost like orange blossom water mixed with the classic Tanqueray juniper/herbal notes. Nicely balanced in my opinion. Made for a really great gin & tonic on this hot summer day.
