Tap Rye (Port Finished) 42% ABV Does not specify where it is bottled so we can assume it is bottled in Canada then imported by Van Gogh Imports, Kentucky. This is a blend of rye whisky aged up to 8 years and is sourced. Aroma: maple, butterscotch, caramel Taste: not as sweet as it smells, some spice to it, minor brandy/fruity notes, not getting any port in this, over time it diminishes and an odd Canadian whisky note appears mildly. Medium body. Uses black synthetic cork which is unique. Cost: 36.95 plus tax (overpriced) Grade: C/C+ Note: Tap 8 Rye (Sherry finished) is not on distiller.com yet. I also tried this and it cost 3 bucks more and was a high average (C+). This one actually had an age statement of 8 years and was 41.5 abv. I expected better from both this and the port finished variety. I tried these around January/February of 2021.

About this bottle
This Canadian rye is distilled “multiple times” in a pot still and then not only aged in port casks, but finished with a small amount of port wine before cold filtration. The distiller says this rye is a limited edition and will not be produced again once the initial run is sold out.
