About this bottle

The Balvenie Tun 1509 is limited edition series which features single malts selected and blended by malt master David Stewart. These whiskies are then allowed to mature further in the distillery's Warehouse 24 in a large vat dubbed Tun 1509. For Batch 7, Steward married 21 "rare and precious casks" for 3 months in the Tun. These casks held single malt which matured in three different barrel types: refill sherry hogsheads, ex-bourbon American oak, and Doublewood refill sherry butts (used to finish Doublewood and then refilled with new make and aged). This is bottled at 52.4% ABV without chill filtration. Available in the US as of October 2020.

JamesT 4.3

Nose: Sherry, citrus forward with a rye like spice. Sweet vanilla, cinnamon , nutmeg, a touch of brown sugar and subtle oak. The sherry, maybe even chardonnay, and zesty citris is more dominant followed with a familiar spicy almost rye like spice. Palate: Peppery spice with sweet, slightly bitter, oak. Zesty citris, with sweet vanilla and baking spices - cinnamon, nutmeg and a hint of ginger. Finish is enjable. Finale Thoughts: This is an very good pour. Tasted against Batch 3, and batch 4. Prefer batch 3, followed by batch 4, but batch 7 isnt far behind.
