Given the name and visual presentation, I went into this expecting a maritime experience similar to certain whiskies from up North only to be proven completely wrong. Nose: Tomato juice, vegetal, parmesan, savory notes that are strongly reminiscent of lobster bisque or bouillabaisse, hints of parsley or dried celery. Very unique. Taste: Not as intense but pretty consistent with what you get on the nose with the addition of a light floral sweetness and some sugar cane. Kinda incohesive as a whole, disharmonic collage of flavors with no typical "funk“ to make up for it. Finish: Not very long, briney and herbal. Let me tell you I’m not a huge fan of this so I’ll just keep it around as a sipper for when I’m in a funny mood until the bottle goes empty. I certainly will not be getting another, though. Due to its tomato notes, I imagine this could make for an interesting Bloody Mary or as an addition to seafood dishes
About this bottle
This Martinique rhum agricole is made from sugarcane sourced from the southern part of the island close to the Atlantic Ocean. At high tides, the canes are nearly submerged entirely resulting in quite the maritime influence. This blanc rhum is bottled at 84 proof.

The nose is rich and complex with that Martinique smell. The palate though is quite good! It's bring without being terribly astringent. It has some nice sweetness with a little squash, but also some really nice rich tropical fruit notes, including mango, banana, and a bit of Green pineapple. There's some nice sea brine, but also a bit of sugar water sweetness that's a tad refreshing. Not a ton of alcohol. It's a good balance with perhaps a bit too much sugar water. It's solidly drinkable to the point of being enjoyable without being excellent.
Hard to even describe the taste; salty, sour, not enjoyable at all. Really tried to enjoy this one but just can't.
Raw, sugar cane, a hint of medicinal, minty chewing gum touch. Fun!
One of my favorite bottles of all time
