Decent spirit to drink. Has notes of cinnamon, spice and everything nice... burnt sugar and a very subtle uplifting citrus touch. It may be because I’m used to drinking whisk[e]y, but I feel like this rum doesn’t taste like a 15 year old spirit. I expected it to be more “dense” and “oily”. Instead it tastes very “shallow”, “thin” and perhaps even watered down. Was kind of disappointed. Is this how most aged rums taste (compared to whisky)?
Trouvadore 15 Year Rum
About this bottle
Trouvadore is named for a slave ship that wrecked off the coast of Turks & Caicos that led to the establishment of the first colony on that chain of islands. The rum is sourced from Angostura and blended and bottled at a facility on Turks & Caicos for the island inhabits and local tourist trade. Only 2000 bottles of this rum were created. Had this rum three times now I had the pleasure to bring my own bottle home. It has a little stronger cimmon taste then I like. Other wise a great price point. Vanilla, a little charcoal, lime with the cimmon taste in the middle finishing out with a light rum burn to let you know its rum.
My favorite rum! It's so smooth. A very easy drink, neat or on the rocks. It is complex and full of flavor. Every time I visit Turks & Caicos, I get a bottle while I'm there, and bring a bottle back home lol. The best.....hands down!
