K&L Wine exclusive. Barrel entry: 7/6/15; bottled: 12/30/20. 117 proof; 58.50%. Label gives the mashbill as: 36% rye, 60% corn, 4% barley. Distilled in Indiana (MGP), bottled in Kentucky. N: Butterscotch, shaving cream (it's MGP after all), lots of barrel spice, some ethanol, herbal rye grain, breakfast cereal. P: Sweet and spicy. Corn, cinnamon, barrel char, wood spice, caramel, butterscotch, vanilla, herbal rye, dash of chili pepper, black tea, dash of earth and leather. F: Sweet corn, cinnamon, chili pepper, green rye, ethanol, shaving cream, barrel char, touch of smoke. This one is interesting. I really enjoyed this bottle. It's high proof, 5 year old MGP, and I generally do like MGP. But when I read my tasting notes, there doesn't seem to be that much up there - a lot of sameness across the nose and palate, not a lot in the way of development. So I'm kinda wondering what I liked so much. I'm thinking it's just a nice combination of things that have worked for me in the past: high rye mashbill, high proof that drinks super easy, MGP profile, reasonable price. And frankly I dig the branding - been to Deadwood before and it just evokes something rustic but appropriately kitsch for me. It's not the best bourbon I've ever had, but it really works for me. I tried to get another out of the same barrel, but they were gone. Did find one from another store and barrel. Off the top of my head, not sure how different they are, but it'll be neat to compare the notes eventually. ____________ Please come join an unofficial Distiller community on Discord: https://discord.gg/VSmCvzAQfH. The label on the back of the bottle says 5 year old but then the sticker on the side has barrel date 5/3/15 and bottle date 6/10/21, so really its 6 yr 1 mo? I’ve worked my way through a bottle and from start to end it wows me. Its all dark and rich, I dont get hardly any rye notes, nothing herbal or fruity at all which seems like it should be a disappointment because i love MGP rye. And it feels much older than 6 years. All those herbal notes seem to be covered up by the sweet oak. Just tons of sweet oak, but no ethanol, proof, drying or bitterness. That’s what really puts this bottle in the top tier for me. Nose: carmel, oak, maple syrup, butter, pecan, rum, cinnamon. A little rubber like a rum, but its not bad at all. Taste: Maple syrup and pecans on buttered pancakes with a sprinkling of cinnamon. Deeelicious. Drinks below its proof Finish: This is where the vanilla really kicks in. Absolute vanilla bomb for days at the end. A+++ for this one. I have not tried any other Tumblin dice barrels but this one is absolutely magic to me. Quick mention of price/value which is also A+ to me.

This was a 6 year single barrel selection. Definitely drinks below its proof. This is excellent - really quite exceptional. I really enjoy high rye bourbon. I wish there was a more floral presence. That would have made this one incredible. Gallenstein Selection #3 Barrel Entry: 5/3/15 Bottled: 6/14/21 118.40 proof

5 year 10 months old single barrel pick. Will Ferrill Heritage Liquors pick 2021. 118.8 proof. 60 corn 36 rye 4 barley. Dark fruit, cinnamon butter on warm bread. Finish is mostly rye spice. Medium finish. Drinks like a 100 proof. Very good!

Strong spice, bite and finish. Drinks closer to 120 proof but I like it. Doesn't taste like any Kentucky bourbon I've tried so it's a nice alternative. Single barrel 115.46 proof Distilled in Indiana, five years old

Young SB that was a store pick. I enjoyed the sweet heat and the cinnamon and spice that you get upfront. Finish goes for a while and overall I would recommend and buy again.
