Sweet and syrupy on the nose with a fair amount of oak. A higher viscosity and more dark sweetness than the rest of the TX offerings and much better than the standard shelf Angel’s Envy. TX did a great job with this port finished bourbon.
That’s got oak and dark fruit to it. The palate is extremely rich and fruity. Mocha is prevalent on the mid-palate. I also got a little caramel drizzled cannoli for some reason. It finishes long and steady.
Not as good as the sherry casked version. The base bourbon is far more readily apparent and the port notes are subdued. I was hoping for a little more wood and a smoother finish
Baking spices up front, followed by candied cherries. Good, mouth coating finish.
Beautiful balance
