About this bottle

The Joseph Magnus Distillery is part of the burgeoning Washington DC craft spirit scene which has come to prominence in the past years. The name relates to an old capital city brand that was lost to America’s Prohibition. Although a new venture, there are many seasoned vets behind the project and the namesake Magnus family is involved in the brand’s relaunch. The stated goal is to create a London Dry-style gin that would be well-placed in classic cocktails

Dan Giggy 4.3

I don’t typically drink gin straight but I always will taste it straight to get a full representation of the flavor. Classic juniper flavor with citrus notes. But this one has a definite oily nutty note probably from the sesame. Very smooth and mild with a slight alcohol harshness. Great in a gin and tonic with a couple dashes of cardamom bitters.

This is wonderful for those who like citrusy-gins. The long finish is nice, if looking for a small amount that could last one a long time. I bit more alcohol on the finish in comparison to some other navy-strength gins out there. Still a solid buy from Magnus.

I've tasted the progression of this gin from the 2015- it is pretty fantastic now. Soft juniper and big spice, with a sweet citrus finish. I would always keep it on my bar now.

Might be my new favorite gin. I don’t like strong pine sol flavor so this is perfect for me. Slightly edges out Sunset Hills gin ($29), but cost a few dollars more ($34).

Sweet, lively and very potent. Makes a helluva Bees Knees, where the fig notes combine with the honey syrup deliciously. Nice work, Jos A Magnus & Co.

Amazing! Crisp, light, and one of the best martinis I have had.
