About this bottle

Hailing from the Dominican Republic, Vizcaya is one of Oliver & Oliver’s product lines, alongside Cubaney and OpthimuS. Surprisingly, this rum is made from fresh cane juice rather than molasses, making it an agricole-style rum in the vein of Clement six-year Grande Reserve. The “21” proudly centered on the Vizcaya label gives the impression of 21 years, but look closely and it says “Cask No. 21,” with no age statement provided. It’s aged in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 80 proof. The squat, oval shaped bottle and gold stopper create a sense of elegance.

This is strictly my opinion. I have tasted high end rums. This rum for me takes it. First off the price point you can’t complain $38-48$. The smell is intoxicating!!!! Marshmallows, chocolate, dried figs and graham crackers. The taste is sweet but the right sweet. This rum by itself is heaven!! Just add a dap of water and it opens up beautifully!!! I use to get this rum all the time but it disappeared in NJ. Now I found it in the NYC. Hehe!!! Love it!!!!

"Mild" comes to mind with this good rum, both in taste and aroma. For my weak senses everything is faint. Aroma is honey, caramel, and tropical fruit. Flavors are caramely/toffee oak. It has an initial oily gentle sweetness in the mouth. A few drops of water helps to open up the aroma and flavor. Rating is based on neat sipping.

Very sweet, but in a beautiful way. Honestly has no spice quality, just caramel & butterscotch candy to the max. Very smooth, easy to drink, & perfect introductory rum to people not used to top shelf rum.

A beautiful sipping rum with few faults. Perhaps on weaker side for those used to fancier more expensive and higher proof runs, but for me it’s a great balance of sweetness, flavour and heat.

Top stuff just like anything Oliver y Oliver makes. Where Cuba meets the Dominican Republic. Very smooth with notes of caramel, chocolate, vanilla, toffee, and a hint of cinnamon

Nice gold color and super sweet aroma. It reminds me of honey, butterscotch and sweet in the palate. The finish is smooth, no heat, which I think is a great end to this rum.
