Drank this neat, per the usual... On the nose: Butterscotch, orange zest, and oak. Tastes: Smooth, caramel notes, dark cherry (likely from the sherry staves), baking chocolate, long finish, minimal burn which is expected at 90 proof. Overall: A really solid find! I'd definitely buy again and at the price point I wouldn't be mad about mixing in an old fashion (if that's your thing). There are layers of flavor here that will keep you wanting to taste more. Buy it if you can find it!
About this bottle
This expression is a Kentucky straight bourbon (70% Kentucky corn, 21% winter rye, 9% malted barley) that is matured in new, charred Missouri oak barrels. It is then finished with sherry cask staves and then bottled at 90 proof.

Not terrible, but not something I would buy a bottle of either. There are way better options at that price point. Lacks depth or any real flavor profile probably due to the short cuts taken in the "aging" process, there is no way around time itself and any attempt to do so will result in a subpar product. There are bottles better than this one for 1/3 the price, like Ancient Age or Very Old Barton.
Smooth and sweet but not overly so. Classic bourbon taste uplifted by the warmth of sherry cask staves. Vanilla and caramel undertones. A little water mellows out the subtle warmth and lightens the complexity. Personally prefer this one straight up. Great price point to share a bottle with friends.
Nose: sharp sweetness. Almost like a white wine. Taste: Sherry is forward. A little bit woody, but nothing distinctive. It's fiiiiine
Smooth, slightly sweet finish (probably due to the sherry casks). Smoother than I thought it’d be. Nice bourbon.
Smooth, but kind of funky flavor and not tasty.
