This is the last of our tastings for Thanksgiving. The bottle showed up at my sons and no one seems to know where it came from? Of those we have tasted, Noble Oak and Crittenden's A Cut Above were the crowd pleasers and on in the bottom half of pricing. Pinhook Bourbon Heist was at the bottom followed closely by Stellum Cygnus and both were in the upper half of pricing. Also tasted were Dickel 8 yr, Huling Station small batch blend, Smoke Wagon Haloween Limited, Chatanooga 111 and Balcones Rye. So how about this one? In a word bland. Maybe I burned out my tastes buds through the week but the turkey soup at lunch sure was good. The nose is very tight even after a couple drops of water. There's a bit of barrel vanilla and some vegetal rye. Not much more. There's a touch of caramel on the palate and zero finish. But there is no noticeable alcohol. I've had worse but mostly better and I certainly would not buy at any price. Just announced an impromptu cocktail party. The street has been closed of and everyone is to bring their favorite bottle to share! Stay tuned.

Had this neat in a glencairn glass. The nose is super faint and I can barely pick anything up. Maybe some hay, ethanol/alcohol, and some light caramel at best. The palate has a thin mouthfeel and something sweet with more burn than flavor to me. The finish comes with some spice/pepper but barely any other notes. What's also odd is that this gets smoother for me as I drink it. The first sip has more burn than the second, third, etc. This one is "okay". Not a favorite for me though. Rating for me is 2.25 and I doubt I’d buy another bottle.

I only gave this a. 5 because it is liquid and it is in a bottle. I hated this stuff. Nose is super thin rye spice with alcohol. Taste is hot alcohol. Teaspoon of water didn't help. No sweetness. Some say buttered popcorn. I get that, but it's too much work to taste that for me. Tastes like Old Granddad. I literally poured half of this bottle down the drain. Just not for me. Others, especially old granddad fans may like. It was similar for me to old forester 100 proof. Bleh.

Nose … very traditional. Caramel Taste …. Saw where said it was a Sazerac product so wondering before I tried … BT or Barton. Definitely a Barton as I get that Barton cinnamon come through but not overpowering. Just enough to enjoy and carries through Finish…spice from the cinnamon lingers for a very pleasant drink higher than 90 proof. Bought at ABC in FL and for $35 I think it’s really good value. Would like to try SxS with 1792 SiB.

I tried this bourbon on about 3 separate occasions, tried to like it but just ended up being a mixer to me. Bourbon is not necessary just bad, its just very bland and ok. The bottle is basic, the label (in my opinion) looks cheap and ugly, the price point is 30 - 40$ range. This one drinks more like a sub 20$ bottle. Used as a mixer and got this one out of my collection. If it was cheaper, I would bump up my rating.

First time trying this bourbon - likely my last at this price point as it left a lot to be desired. Is a little sharp on the tongue initially but then smooths out somewhat on the back side which is ok. Recommend with couple of ice cubes to allow it to open up a bit and remove some of the initial bite.
