The nose immediately shows a grassy youth along with straw, a touch of honey and a nice amount of oak. The palate tastes just like the nose, except surprisingly the elements of youth are not as domineering. The mouthfeel overall is very thin and carries an unpleasant spice. The finish is short to medium with sadly, the taste not going away quick enough. This is far too young considering the climate of Vermont and it very much shows.
About this bottle
This is a single barrel selection of straight bourbon made with a high rye mash bill of 51% Dent corn and 49% Remington and Rifle rye varietals harvested from the ‘North Orwell 1’ and ‘North Orwell 2’ fields of WhistlePig Farm in Vermont. It was distilled on WhistlePig’s original hybrid still, ‘Mortimer’, proofed with water from WhistlePig’s Farm well, and aged for upwards of four years in Vermont Estate Oak barrels. It is bottled at 100.1 proof, just a hair beyond the bonded whiskey standard. Only 16 barrels were released for 2021 as of June.

IMO this is the worst bourbon I’ve had in the 10 years of collecting and drinking whiskey. The nose is corn and dirt while the taste is overwhelmingly dirt and oak. The finish is straw and fresh grass clippings and last for hours. Could not finish a 2oz pour.
Nose: herbal Taste: grass. Homie this tastes like rye and grass shavings. St Augustine grass clippings put in rye!
This is odd. I don’t know if it’s because there is only 2 grains and there is no malted barley or what.
Six year. Extremely smooth
Great rye
