Single Barrel Section for Fiesta Liquor, C32, 106 proof. Sourced MGP Rye and KY Bourbon with some Texas distilled and aged bourbon. Lovely color. Very nice and sweet nose, with a slight punch of ethanol. Strong brown sugar and vanilla, and the tiniest bit of pepper. Smells reminiscent of a high rye bourbon, something like a 4R 100 proof SiB, but missing some of the depth/age. Very nice mouth feel (thanks, NCF) with a coating hit of caramel that lingers for a really nice long time allowing you to appreciate it. Then, the rye takes over, with the pepper, rye bread spice, and sweet sour apples. Finish is dominated by the rye portion, and I would appreciate more oak and bourbon in the finish, but it lingers a relatively long time with that same sour apple and rye heat. Drinks a little hotter than the reported 106. Overall, a very nice offering from a local brand. I keep coming back to the comparison between this and 4R 100 proof SiB. And that is huge compliment for a young distillery in Houston. Still missing the oak-y finish, but highlights some of the younger rye spices better. The price even, right around $40, is also similar to the 4R comparison. This also drinks a little hot, but is higher proof and NCF as compared to 4R 100 proof SiB. This is nice, and will likely rotate in and out of my collection as long as I can get it. Won't blow your mind, but is damn good. I look forward to trying other batches. The blend works well together and takes you on a great varied flavor tour. Hats off to Travis Whitmeyer.

Nose: bold, sweet honey, vanilla, caramel, and cherry with a dusting of corn and light baking spices. Palate: oily and rich mouthfeel. Honey, vanilla, light cherry, with a caramelized corn note. Towards the back half of the taste a eucalyptus and herbal note shows and finishes with an oak ding and baking spice. Final notes: I was recommended to purchase this from my Spec's guy (Texas liquor store), because "it tastes like a $60 whisky in a $37 bottle". If this was priced at $60, I'd still buy it. It's just a very rich and flavorful experience both on the nose and palate. For pairing, I'd argue that this is a whisky to be enjoyed by itself. However, a cigar pairing that has medium/medium-full bodied notes of cinnamon, oak, and baking spices would be very enjoyable. Disclaimer: the requested whisky lists a 55.8% abv, however, my identical bottle is 50.5%. I believe proof on this whisky varies from batch to batch. Mine is specifically batch 7.

Just not a fan of rye. Good juice tho. I was able to try this during a very long night of whiskey tasting, but I was unfortunately unable to take good notes. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3. Bad - Multiple flaws. 4. Below average - Not bad, but many things I'd rather have. 5. Good - Just average. 6. Very Good - Better than average. 7. Great - Well above average. 8. Excellent - In a league of its own. 9. Incredible - An all-time favorite. 10. Perfect

I really want this to be great as I like the bottle design and supporting our vets...that said, nose is sparky and followed by a nice bouquet, the vanilla vanishes fast followed with heat - thin & young. The rye starts standing out by the 3rd sip - peppery finish is very nice. A little age and this would be my go to. Proof 110.4 Batch 12

Strong! Hits you with a sweet fire, but this bourbon rye has a sweet aftertaste. Woody notes, a slightly charred butterscotch flavor comes across as you let the whiskey linger on the palate. Pairs well with a nice fire and cold night.
