Widow Jane Decadence 10 Year (Fall 2023)

Nose: very sweet with notes of a sweet oak, maple, chocolate fudge, and molasses. Palate: soooo smooth; notes of oak, spice, and chocolate, followed by a long and sweet maple syrup finish. Normally with some bourbons, a long finish entails progessing flavor notes; this, however, is just a lingering essence of maple syrup and oak. Delicious and quite decadent as the name would imply. I was honestly expecting something like Penelope Rio since this is a finished bourbon. However, Penelope Rio is delicious yet almost overpowering in it’s honey flavor….I said almost. This Decadence is not that way, it’s more of a naturally sweet bourbon that has distinct notes of maple syrup…but maple syrup isn’t the only prominent note. A good comparison, in my opinion, would be a Woodford Double Oaked or an Eagle Rare finished in maple syrup barrels. Great pour. 

Nose is molasses and caramel. Palate expreses some brown sugar, milk chocolate, and a light cherry note. The finish is similar with the maple note being subtle at the very end. The more you sip on it the maple note shows up midway in the palate also. Delicious drink but wouldn’t want it every day.

Nose: sweet molasses and burnt caramel Body: sweet and light flavor, smooth, has some burnt maple syrup and caramel. There is definitely a maple element. hazelnut Quick finish, coats the mouth well Unique flavor. good for sure

Just a lovely blend. Great maple sweetness, nice back notes of vanilla, honey and rich molasses. The nose is heaven. Neat or in a manhatten with black walnut bitters.

Very viscous, very easy to sip, and not oaky at all. sweet and luscious with a medium finish.

Nice daily sipper, maple finish is fantastic!
