I love Wilderness Trail- they have a cool story of consulting the biggest names in the industry alongside creating one of the fastest growing brands in Kentucky. Dr. Pat Heist and Shane Baker know what they are doing from the craft and science perspective, and have so much history in the industry. With Campari now owning majority stake, I know this brand will be preserved for years to come. From sweet mash to the commitment to providing the one of the best bottled-in-bond product on the market, I cant wait to see how WT expands. Nose: Nutmeg, peanuts, oak, tobacco Palate: sweet corn, toffee, cocoa, fresh peeled apples Finish: sits forward on the tongue before moving to a gentle Kentucky hug; keeps me wanting to come back for over and again This is a perfect sipper for me. Unique in that it has one of the highest wheat contents at 24%- you’d never know the rye wasn’t a part of the equation. At a proce point of around $50, this is a perfect add to any home bar.

One of the four expressions from Wilderness Trail that followed us home from Kentucky! It was a favorite at a recent family cookout, with good reason. This is a very nice bourbon. Sweet on the nose and palate, and a smooth, medium length hug. Medium to heavy mouthfeel as well, which is very pleasing. This is better than the rye version in my opinion. Likely something I’ll re-purchase; fairly soon given it’s popularity at the cookout!

Nose: Fragrant, oak, peanuts Palate: Vanilla, marzipan (oh god have I become Fred Minnick?) that transitions into a... Finish: ...sweet, spicey, short finish This wheater is my favorite of Wilderness Trail's core line-up. It has all the sweeter and softer elements that a wheated bourbon has but also has a nice finish for a 100 proof BiB expression.

I have a SiB pick and get really heavy barn from that bottle. On this bottle get a bit of barn on the nose, but the taste and finish is much more traditional. Wouldn’t turn down another pour but doesn’t Stan out enough to buy.

Nose: Fresh bale of hay funk with some caramel and fruit sweetness Pallet: caramel early gives way to a charred oak. Some subtle fruitiness . The charred oak lingers on the finish with some black pepper spice

Capsule review from 2023 New Orleans Bourbon Festival: Peanuts on the nose that transitions to vanilla sweetness through the palate and finish (short/medium.)
