Pick: Star Liqour - 701 E Mohave St, Phoenix, AZ 85034 Age: 5 years & 2 months Barrel: ISC Barrel No: 753152 Rickhouse: B-E15-M10 Yeast Strain: 921 Proof: 106.18 Nose: Very “clean” on the nose. Almost rememiscent of a Pine-Sol without the chemicals. The nose is just bery pleasant. Earthy Rye with a balance of brown sugar and fruit. Very pleasant. Palate: Rye Spice immediately. Although your classic rye palate, it is much more mellow and almost sweet. Notes of cracked black pepper and burnt brown sugar pair nicely to balance each other out. Finish: A pleasant blend of rye spice and bread before giving way to charred oak. The finish is one of the weaker points of the sip, but still pleasant. Thoughts: One of my first Wilderness Trail experiences, and my first bottle to own. Have no regrets on the store pick, and will definitely look for this again in the future.

A pleasant floral sweetness greets you as you wake up in your tent. It smells of campfire flapjacks and fresh air. Nose: honey, maple syrup, slight oaky char Palate: a slight pepper bite on the front but barely, gives way to pancakes and buttery honey, just the right amount of heat and a lonnnngggg finish. Hints of peppermint and anise but then ultimately the honey and soft floral taste comes back. This is phenomenal. What a treat to have such a balanced high proof bourbon. You would never know it’s BP from the bite. But you know it’s BP from its complexity.

Nose: vanilla, toasted marshmallows, corn Palate: some ethanol but that quickly fades to mint, hints of maple syrup and more vanilla Finish: medium, but that’s more due to the ethanol proof and not the complexity of flavors The 2018 Wilderness Trail bottled in bond was great. It was akin to Makers 46. This single barrel pick (Liquor Barn, 2019, #4 char, Rickhouse B W0107, yeast strain FermPro-1) is lackluster compared to last years BiB release. Will revisit.

Rating Barrel #15617-6... chosen by OHLQ for exclusive Ohio distribution. Definitely part of the Wilderness Trail family. Familiar sweet nose with a balanced palette, slightly spicy, but full of fruit and vanilla. A bit easier to drink than some higher-proof/barrel strength offerings. Opens up as ice block melts. Enjoying it, but not sure it is much better than the standard small batch which is quite a bit cheaper and one of my favorites.

Aroma is damn nice with some good fruity notes pairing well with the oak and darkly sweet notes giving it an elegant dessert profile; Palate is sweet and bready but intensely interesting with its delivery of dessert bar meets rustic outing profile; Finish gets fruitier as it goes – diving into a caramelized banana flavor before it disappears.

1010 Washington Store Pick. 109 proof Nose- cherry pie, spearmint, fresh cut grass and bubblegum Taste- fun and complex. Nuttiness up front, salted caramel, toffee and rye bread on the back end Finish- long. Bready notes with cinnamon spice and black licorice. Nice mouthfeel Nicely complex blend of classic bourbon and rye notes.
