Announced in summer 2018, this release is part of the Distillery Series from Woodford Reserve. This limited edition is made with the brand's standard rye whiskey and then finishes it in a custom-made second barrel. This finishing barrel is also new American oak, but is lightly charred and heavily toasted. Bottled at 45.2% ABV it is available at the distillery and select Kentucky retailers in 375ml sized bottles.

Nose: Butterscotch Vanilla Charred meats Brown sugar Marjoram Dried Marshmallow Rye spice (allspice, fennel) Taste: Very wood heavy Sweet tea Melted caramel Taste is extremely offputting. It is like drinking sugar water that has had freshly-toasted wood chips sitting in it for a week. I'm glad Woodford performs these experiments, but I think this one belongs in the vault.
