About this bottle

This is the first release of 2023 for Woodford Reserve's Distillery Series. The whiskey is made by taking fully matured Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Bourbon and aging it for an additional year in a heavily toasted, lightly charred American oak barrel. It's bottled in 375ml sized bottles at 90.4 proof and is available at the Woodford Reserve Distillery beginning January 18, 2023 and at select Kentucky retailers. (SRP $59.99)

BourbonBrad 4.0

Nose - Campfire roasted marshmallow but quite fruity as well. Texture - TBH, kinda a let down after just experiencing the very similar OF 117 Series XXO. But it’s solid in its own right, full bodied and slightly oily. Flavors - Sweet, spicy and bright with more fruity notes. Cherry, blackberry, even some raspberry. It definitely has that Double Oak signature Werther’s Original caramel and butterscotch sweetness, and lots of woody, oaky goodness. I think I’m just surprised at how many fruit notes are able to shine through. Finish - All of those flavor notes continue all the way through to the end, but it is pleasantly and noticeably spicier than standard Double Oaked.

Very different than 2021. Weirdly get some cherry kool aide mixed with floral notes and oak.
