About this bottle

This blended whiskey is initially aged in new, heavy-toasted, lightly charred American oak barrels and then re-barreled into used bourbon barrels for additional aging. For finishing, It's re-barreled a third time into used Ardbeg Islay scotch barrels. Woodinville Whiskey Company is a craft distillery that ages all of its whiskeys at Omlin Family farm in Quincy, Washington; the same farm where it sources its grains.

Best described as “muscular.” Triple Barrel is like that buddy you have from back home named Ry-Ry, Big John or Bonesaw, or something like that... he’s usually quiet, drinks Bud Light and wears the same dirty baseball cap everyday. He doesn’t start fights, he ends them. WTB is the best of opposing worlds. This bourbon is beaten into submission by oak 2x4s, but the oakiness itself is too scared to show up or make too much noise. It’s a bourbon winking at you dressed up as scotch. The Ardbeg influence is dreamy. The color is enthusiastically leather. American leather, not Italian. Feels, tastes, smells like a catchers mitt. This is an experience. Not for everyone, but has SOMETHING for everyone. This will unite scotch and bourbon drinkers, either for or against. Maybe in the future I’ll pick out notes. Time being, I’m enjoying this.

This is my favorite whisky to sip. The nose has hint of caramel / vanilla with a smoky oak char scent. Its smooth on the palette but the finish is what I love. It leaves a wonderful smoke flavor in your mouth. Its like sitting around a camp fire! I find that usually one ounce is about the right serving side neat or with a chip of ice. If I drink more I find the smoke is too intense. This is to be savored in small amounts.

When I think of this juice ending up in the Ardbeg casks, I think of the Tom Waits lyric, “And you take on the dreams of the ones who have slept here.” I imagine the souls of the grains have fever dreams of being Vikings and pillaging villages. This is as good of a spirit as you can buy at a reasonable price. Get it before it’s gone.

Had this in a tasting at Woodinville. Bought the bottle to give it a full evaluation! I am not a Scotch expert but I enjoy the double barrel so wanted to get the triple to round it out. Unique finish from the Ardbeg barrel. Enjoying a new flavor profile

This was a delightful whisk(e)y. It was well balanced and offered something adventurous. I wish I’d have purchased more than one bottle. If you stumble upon it, scoop it up.

Wow. Incredibly peaty. You can literally taste the charred barrel while sipping on this. It’s great if that’s what you’re looking for.
