Grr 4.0

Writers’ Tears Cask Strength 2019 Glass: Glencairn (for Irish whiskey, sorry) Colour: full golden amber shine Nose: sweet banana and toffee. Brown syrup. Palate: first impression is the inevitable sharpness from the 53 %, but not overpowered by the alcohol. Very spicy and metallic initially, but adding just a few drops of water opens the dram to greater heights bringing complexity and oak into the mix. Mouthfeel is not very oily or greasy, but some buttery notes on the tongue are clearly present. Finish: mineral and buttery mouthfeel continues longer than taste 4/5

Nose with caramel, berry, butterscotch. Rich palate with some caramel, honey, oak, stewed apples. The mouthfeel is thick and oily, and there's just a little heat on the finish. Definitely the most Scotch-like Irish whiskeys I've tried, and one of the most enjoyable. I'm actually not entirely sure which release I'm drinking, so went with the most recent one that came up.

Nose: Notes of morning dew and sweet grass Body: full bodied with notes of dried fruit, grass, cinnamon and butterscotch Finish : a warm medium lasting finish, leaving notes of caramel apple

Served on a large rock. Nose offers up notes of caramel. Taste is a bit hot at first. Great mouthfeel with nice notes of oak and some tropical fruit. Spicy pepper on the finish. Very nice.

Andrew Baumann 4.5

Incredibly rich. Notes of green tea, apricot, and ginger. Quite warm yet sweet. Apples, cinnamon, and white chocolate. Some sweet cedar notes along with pear. Balanced finish.

bscope 4.3

A little bit of woody flavor like I’d expect from a scotch, with a heat that matches the proof. Under all that is a really good, complex flavor that’s there if you look for it.
