NOSE Cereal sweetness, oak, spiced apples, caramel, graham crackers and a slight bit of vanilla. What’s there is nice and fresh, but it’s super light. Much lighter than the previous Outryders I’ve had. PALATE Grainy sweetness, candy sweetness, oak, cinnamon, dried fruit and a subtle toffee and vanilla. Woah, this is kind of weird. The spice starts light, but builds till it starts battling the sweetness yet remains balanced. FINISH Medium -> Grainy-candy sweetness, cinnamon and vanilla fade out oaky.
About this bottle
This is the fifth expression in Wyoming Whiskey's rye-forward Outryder Straight American Whiskey. For this one they have combined their 10-year-old whiskeys they refer to as “almost rye” (48% rye, 40% corn, 12% malt) and bourbon (68% corn, 20% rye, 12% malt), with two rye whiskeys distilled in early 2017 (51% rye, 37% corn, 12% malt) and bourbon (68% corn, 20% rye, 12% malt). These are all made from non-GMO grains and the whiskey is proofed with Wyoming-sourced water. It is bottled at 100 proof, with a total of 11,520 bottles available in the US as of November, 2021.
