A delicate, NAS Japanese Single Malt Whisky expression that combines assembled work of old & young Whiskies in barrels of different origins. A vatting of malt matured in European Sherry & Port casks made of European Oak for up to two decades & married with a young malt matured in Bourbon cask. It has a sweet birth with notes of fruit, citrus, melon, port, sherry & a touch of honey; while a rich life adds notes of vanilla custard, citrus, banana, chestnut & fire; that led to a long & balanced death with notes of fruit, honey, wood, phenols, pine & salt. August 2018 / March 2019 / July 2022

Appearance: Russet Muscat in color, oily-looking as you swirl with slow-moving long legs that hang to the glass. Nose: Sweet dried fruits, with a candied orange peel. Old oak with just a hint of light smoke. Palate: Smooth with a light sherry and port note that is immediately followed by more of that dried fruit and candied orange peel. Crisp for the age statements blended in here. Finish: Mouth-drying saltiness but not in a bad way. Not as lingering as you want it to be. Slightly more oak and distant smoke like when you smell a cabins fireplace in the distance.

Yamazaki never disappoints. Also, how do they still have this gem in Kyoto? Amazing, comes close to the 18. There’s some very old stuff in here. Sweet, oaky but balanced with that typical Yamazaki flavor. 95
