An elegant, Agave Spirit by NOM 1122 from Mexico aged in small French oak barrels for over 12 months, with a small proportion of it aged in American oak for 3 years. It has an aromatic birth with noes of agave, earth, wood, fruits, herbs & spices; while a rich & zesty life adds notes of toasted agave, caramel & orange rinds; that led to a complex death of medium length. The bottle and label, along with the dark caramel color are beautiful. I get some nice nice vanilla, spice and caramel with a slight vegetal note that almost comes across as plastic-like. I don’t mind vegetal characters but this being so up front in the nose and on the finish seems kind of strange for a matured Añejo.

Rich sweet caramelized vegetal agave on the verge of being over browned. It’s a simple profile but it’s better than most. I can see Don Julio’s Anejo being similar, probably sweeter. If only it were available here for me to try. $50 in Ontario.

I found it quite muted, lacking complexity and depth on the palate. The nose was surprisingly pleasant and, the flavors developed better on ice.

Brown sugar, molasses, vanilla and mexican chocolate greet the nose and palate. Rich, semisweet and velvety. Silky finish. I like this a lot.
