About this bottle
1897 Quinine Gin was created to support the UK charity, Malaria No More, with part of the proceeds donated to support malaria prevention. Named after the year scientists discovered mosquitoes transmit malaria, it was launched on World Mosquito Day in 2015.Quinine, an anti-malaria drug from the bark of the cinchona tree, is one of the botanicals added to the gin. This gin is made with a total of 13 botanicals, 10 of which are distilled together with the bast spirit (juniper, coriander, angelica, nutmeg, cinnamon, cassia, orange, lemon, licorice, and orris), with the remaining ones (cinchona bark, pink and white grapefruit) each distilled separately. The final product is bottled at 45.8% ABV.
