Nose: Fruity and floral with aromas centered on sweet, rich citrus. Juniper provides the second leg but is not overly prominent, and some warm spicy tones add the third leg of the stool to create balance. Palate: Sweet and creamy arrival with just a little spice. As it unfolds in the mouth the spice notes enlarge and fill the palate in a satisfying manner. There is a richness and density of texture that is very pleasant and a slightly honeyed note. Finish: Medium. Some pine needles and resin give the finish a lift. A rich and full-bodied classic London gin with a hefty presentation throughout the profile and a subtle sweetness, but it is not that far from the origins of the breed. It's most enjoyable and worth the money, but not outstanding in any way. The official Distiller notes are on target but I would not rate this gin as highly. It's certainly above average, but no more than that. "Above Average" : 81/100 (3 stars)
About this bottle
Launched in 2005, this London Dry Gin is made with unusual African botanicals like the fruit of the baobab tree and cape gooseberries. Other botanicals include sweet orange, lemon peel, orris root, angelica root, coriander seed, cassia bark and the requisite juniper. It's crafted in England by 8th generation distiller Johnny Neill who uses a 100-year old copper pot still for the small-batch production of this gin.

A floral bouquet boils off this gin. If they put it in small enough bottle, I'd think you should be wearing it. Those lovely floral and delicate fruit and spice not on the nose are carried across to the pallate with a big juicy character that makes you salivate. A finely balanced finish, with just enough juniper cutting through leavea you wanting another sip. Great solo, on the rocks, tonic or martini... Next cocktail to make with this is an Aviation. Looking forward to it
I really love this gin. Somehow handcrafted to have rich and full strength, strong juniper note which somehow also give space for other tastes to introduce itself. The sweetness is there just enough to use some light tonic to give all the tastes the space. The overall smooth taste (considering the 43% of alcohol content...) is neat, so it works as sipper too. I'm huge fan of this tonic.
Very smooth and balanced flavours. Reminds me a lot of portobello road gin as has a very similar overall profile. Enjoyable with tonic, soda water, straight, or martini shown vermouth briefly. Great value gin
Fresh citrus and fruit, floral, with a deft touch of juniper. Lemon, orange peel, rose petals, and something more exotic. Soft and silky mouthfeel. A tasty delight as a martini
Amazing Gin! I love that juniper is present but doesn’t over power the cocktail. Can’t wait to try the full line that they make.
