Color: A light tangerine. Nose: Vanilla and honeycomb and lush beds of flowers. Fruit scents are soggy and sweet, like Golden Delicious apples. Palate: Wonderfully waxy and creamy, with just the lightest hint of red wine or sherry influence. And rainy, like petrichor. Finish: Sweet notes solidify to butter, while the fruit notes sharpen to citrus. Tough to unwind the casks here (at least for me), or the age. Young, but maybe not so young. Diluted: Nose is hot buttered bread with a spicy fruit profile, like apple cider. Explosion of brown sugar on the palate, with a richer, caramelly finish.
About this bottle
anCnoc (pronounced "a-knock") teamed up with Scottish-born menswear designer Patrick Grant, of the prestigious Saville Row tailors, Norton & Sons and E. Tautz to design the bottle for this release. Grant spent time at the distillery in Knockdhu and was inspired by the greenery and charm of the area, which reflects on the colorful spring-like packaging. Blas ("taste" in Gaelic) was matured in 50% re-charred American oak and 50% ex-Oloroso sherry casks.

5th and last dram. I don't see how this one got a 92 rating on distiller. 5 average drams this time round unfortunately. Still you have to take the good with the bad. The 5 dram run which included Hazelburn 13 Olo, Kilchoman Red blew me away (I now have both bottles 😊). Runs like this makes you appreciate the good stuff I guess. Acetonee nose, not hot at all for 54% but then not much going on. Water doesn't help. Zero out of 5 this time round. Oh well...two weeks and Dramfest...40 distilleries...250 whiskies in 10 hours over 2 days...so I'll no doubt find some great stuff I haven't tried!
Tasted at the infamous Stanley Hotel (from the Shining) it was an awesome dinner. Nose - sweet malt and bright zestiness, lemon and vanilla, light honey and floral notes Palette - hot and medium body, sweet citrus forward, rich malt helps provide balance and a touch of bitterness Finish - lingering honey and citrus, strong but pleasant burn
Maritime, fig and date reduction nose. Dense feel. Dry sherry, hearty nuts, funky, oak, and cocoa powder. Lingering, dry finish. Very well done malt.
