Saw this for the first time in my area today (I am 70 yo) and it was on sale for $28, compared to regular $37. Had to try it. The bottle states lightly peated, but my very first impression was at least moderately (average) peat. After the bottle has been opened for a day the peat level seems to decrease. I am quite enjoying this. While it is not terribly complex, it is a great balance of malt, subtle honey sweetness, and a nice accent of autumn smoke. To me, right or wrong, this is a great example of a Highland peated Scotch. I should have bought more. Odd that the Distiller review of this does not even mention the peat smoke.
About this bottle
Ardmore distillery puts most of its production strength into its status as the chief component of Teacher's Highland Cream, a blended Scotch. However, Ardmore Highland single malts also can be found. This includes Ardmore Legacy, which originally replaced the distillery's Traditional Cask. As opposed to the whisky it replaced -- which is also set to return as Ardmore Tradition -- Legacy is chill filtered and was released at a lighter strength, 80 proof as opposed to 92 proof.

Ardmore Legacy Nose: citrus, light smoke and light peat, very delicate. Palate: quite watery, but embers and peat are felt, mixed with citrus and vanilla. Short and light finish, even if very balanced. Absolutely normal whisky. Rating 3.50 _______________________________________________________ Ardmore Legacy Naso: agrumi, leggero fumo e leggera torba, molto delicato. Palato: abbastanza acquoso, ma si sentono la brace e la torba, miste ad agrumi e vaniglia. Finale breve e leggero, anche se molto bilanciato. Whisky assolutamente normale. Voto 3,50
Semi oily with a cereal and light vanilla begining, light oak, straw, floral, mild peat smoke. As you reach the finish it reaches a drier, tannic and peppery medium length finish. Very mild and light, a great introduction to peated malts and one I recommend to alot of people interested in peat. Its nothing extraordinary but its a great every day sipper with a fantastic price. Cant tell you how many people ive gotten off J&B (somewhat similar profiles, with ardmore being superior of the two)
Nose: pear, bubblegum, bleach. OK maybe there's some vegetale peat in there too.....and ok maybe some stewed fruit also. It's not terrible. Just...my reaction is "Um, what?" Taste: nope, I'm not wrong. It tastes like weak vegetable soup that somebody flavored with drain cleaner. Weirdly though, it's not thin. There's enough oil in there to give it a decent finish. I hope somebody likes it, cus someone clearly put some effort into making it. But it's not for me.
Smell - peaty, disinfectant, bit of ripe pear. Taste is smooth light, feels like 34-ish ABV. Little burn if you splash whole mouth. Little honey in water. Little apple, little acidity. Overall, nothing interesting. It goes down nicely but yes, this is nothing special, nothing to remember. And the cork is shit. It broked, the 2/3 in bottle was impossible to pull out by corkscrew, I ended doing cork surgery. Shame.
Nose : light and sweet, lemongrass, a bit chemical Body : wierd initial taste... Paprika and apples? It that is quickly gone, gentle grass notes Finish: very short and mild. Honey an minimal oak notes. Overall, the initial taste is not my cup of tea. Apart from that, it's very mild and gentle. Not too remarkable.
