Saw a display of this on the way out of the ABC store the other day. Pretty bottle and it came with a free Tiki glass. Well, I'm a sucker for pretty bottles and free gifts AND I have been wanting to branch out and try some rums. Let's give it a go... Nose: Very promising. Vanilla, Buttercream Icing, Banana, those Yellow Disc Butterscotch candies, Maple and Molasses. Palate: Does not live up to the expectations generated by the nose. Disappointingly Thin. Vanilla, Banana Cream, Coffee with Cream and Sugar. Very little heat and a slight bitterness on the finish. So thin it leaves no coating on the palate, just a saccharine-ish aftertaste. Verdict: The nose was a Grand Slam. The palate was a dribbler back to the mound. The best part of this one is the free glass. I have a bottle of local-ish, unaged White Rum from Outer Banks Distilling that is miles better than this one and a couple dollars less to boot.

I bought this over the summer and I have really enjoyed it. This is very pleasant not too sweet rum from the DR that tastes almost like it is a spiced rum and has vanilla and sweet nose and it has a fruity body I do like this rum. I want to say I bought this for closer to $20 and at that price, it is amazing at $25 or 30 not so much. Its flavor does hold up in drinks and it is not bad on the rocks but a bit sweet for me. There is a 5 yo and 12 yo that I want to try in this line and I will look for some autumn drinks with rum for them. I am not rating this higher simply because I only have two rums in my bar at the moment and while it is really good I do not have anything to rate it against so I will revisit this in a few months after I have had a few others. Enjoy.
