About this bottle

This is a grain Irish whiskey release sourced by The Connacht Whiskey Co. while they wait for their whiskey to age. With a mash bill of 93% corn and 7% malted barley, the whiskey ages initially in ex-bourbon barrels. Then the whiskey transfers to port casks for finishing. Available in the US beginning March 2018.

Quite possibly the worst Irish whiskey I’ve ever had. On the nose it’s extremely ethanol heavy With a little vanilla, and shortbread cookie. The taste is pure ethanol then a little sweetness on the back end. I’m not sure if something happened in the past two years, but my bottle taste nothing like the other reviews. Stay far away from this bottle.

★★★½ Avent 2019 - 12/24.

Maybe I got a bad bottle, but this genuinely tastes and smells of plastic. Acetone and other unpleasant aromas. I’m supremely disappointed considering I only bought this because I saw that it was from the same region of Ireland that my family is from.

Axly 2.0

The most bland Irish I have tasted. The color is super light, and the flavor is almost sweet, almost complex, but ultimately does not deliver. There are many other Irish in this price range that would be worth your time.

not bad! smells a little astringent, but is smooth and caramel sweet on the tongue. little hints of shortbread. orange rind in the finish.

Very vanilla taste but the rubbing alcohol smell deters you from wanting a second glass. Overall good taste, just a strangely strong smell.
