Professor Cornelius Ampleforth's Bathtub Gin - Old Tom Gin is a very good, intense, traditional style of gin that was very popular in 18th and 19th century England. Old Tom is a slightly sweetened gin, created following a request from The Handmade Cocktail Company, which needed a tasty Old Tom gin for use in their Martinez cocktail. It has an aromatic birth with fruit, citrus & botanical notes; while light & sweet life added notes of juniper & orange; that led to a clean death with a touch of pepper. January 2018
About this bottle
Initially launched in 2011, this gin was formerly known as "Professor Ampleforth's Bathtub Gin", but has been repackaged as Abelforth's Bathtub Gin. Same packaging of brown paper and a wax seal. The gin itself is made in the cold-compounding method which generally is made by taking artificial flavors and adding to a neutral spirit. Not in this case. Made in small batches, the botanicals which include juniper, coriander, orange peel, cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom, are monitored in the infusion and tasted frequently to ensure consistency. Note: This is not currently available in the U.S.

Had a pour of this while on a business trip in Denver. No good whiskey in the hotel bar, and no respectful mezcal...so resorted to this. High school prom all over again. The jocks get the first pick. The cool kids in leather jackets get second picks. Those of us in advanced math class...well, I might as well have stayed home. Same with this gin. My $6 were better off in my wallet.
Strong cardamon taste that comes thru. A tad bit too strong that it overpowers all other more subtle taste.
Not at all enjoyable. I actually threw it away. I have 30 or more gins so it’s not that I don’t like gin!
Spicy, alcohol, cardamom, juniper, like"Goldwasser" oil
