Oh what is wrong with me? I buy whisky with no chance? Oh well So bottle is stupid looking, thanks Nike designer. The butterfly is kinda cool, I guess? Or tacky? Anyway no value in the display, but props on the synthetic cork. nose - a good depth and body to the nose. Vanilla sweetness, clean oak, but the alcohol is still there in spades. I'll see how water works. Water makes the oak more clear and it's a nice oak. Taste - Barton is known for being clean but this isn't just barton. This remains super clean whisky but there's a depth and backbone to this one. It's rich and flavorful, but not complex. This is generic bourbon but there's a depth and mineral note on the back end. The focus is creamy and rich, but not spicy or that rich dark sugar's sweetness either. Water teases out more sweetness. This is good but I can't really describe it as it's barton, it's boring and yet good. Balanced and even is really what barton does. So score? Well the bottle is a 0, lol. Ok the bourbon? 2.5. Above average but lacking.

Good whiskey, garbage marketing. NOSE: Oaky, deep dark fruit, roasted nuts, spice mustiness, vanilla cupcakes, toffee, spice touch char and citrus. Oaky and heady aroma deepened with spice and dark sweets. Blue Run Bourbon smells wonderful… this is bourbon. PALATE: Caramel, oak, dark fruit, leather, hazelnut, spice, vanilla cupcakes, toffee, spice, char citrus, earthy and herbal with a bit of menthol on end. So much complex earthiness here, the Blue Run Bourbon palate is just plain good. Warm and inviting, it carries a bit more darkly sweet notes than the aroma. FINISH: Long -> Oak, herbal, citrus, fruit, char, spice in a long warm fade that turns to cocoa and mint.
Decent expression. Certainly taste the 13 years in the barrel but not in an over powering or bad way. But its missing those sweeter typical bourbon notes to balance the oak out. Nothing totally unique or intriguing here like the website is marketing. When factoring in price and the Limited Release status this is an easy pass for $170.
Typical wonderful bourbon smell of vanilla. Somehow some floral fruit in there. Incredible velvety texture. “Dusty” and musty like 80s bourbon according to bartender. Spicy finish. Doesn’t smell spicy but doesn’t have that weird burn like some spice does for me. Must be some rye in here.
Sweet, fruity nose, with vanilla. The flavors are deep and complex, with tastes of cherry, vanilla, light oak, also cinnamon. If you are a fan of Old Forrester 1920, you will love this.
At 113 proof I was expecting hot. Bar none absolutely one of the smoothest pours ever. 3 fingers and 2 small cubes opened this up. If you have the chance I would buy.
