Id call this pretty generic whiskey at best. I know its nas, but given the price and hype i was certainly expecting more, especially with a pro review score of 93 from a pro reviewer. Certainly not bad, but ecbp, knob 12 or frankly even rare breed are better than this for my pallet. It this was a $65 is bottle it go to 4 starts, but given the price and hype I'm gonna knock it back to 3. I will chamge.my score on the odd chance it opens up. To be fair, this is also been open only 4 weeks with 2 ounces since the crack. I wouldn't even buy this again at $50 but maybe in time (1 year @ half bottle it will get better)
Bomberger's Declaration (2025 Release)
About this bottle
This annual release from Michter's Legacy Series is named in tribute to Bomberger's Distillery which was founded in Pennsylvania in the 1800s and later known as Michter's. Each release differs from previous years. The 2025 release once again features Chinquapin oak in the maturation process, but the staves were air-dried and seasoned for different periods of time ranging from 18 months to 5 years. The barrels were then toasted and charred to Michter's specifications. Bottled at 108 proof, this 2025 edition is set for release in July 2025 with limited availability. (SRP $120)

Id call this pretty generic whiskey at best. I know its nas, but given the price and hype i was certainly expecting more, especially with a pro review score of 93 from a reviwer im usually in agreement with. Certainly not bad, but ecbp, knob 12 or frankly even rare breed are better than this for my pallet. It this was a $65 is bottle it go to 4 starts, but given the price and hype im gonna knock it back to 3. I will chamge.my score on the odd chance it opens up. To be fair, this is also my first taste of michters juice; wont be seeking out others...
Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Medium-dark amber. Nose: Notes of sweet corn bread and apple sauce with raisins. Palate: Cinnamon, clove, baking spice, and oaky dryness. Finish: Warm heat and a long length. Splash: The oaky notes come forward as the spicier cinnamon notes are calmed. Overall: 9.5/10 - I was lucky enough to come across a place that had several bottles within 10% of MSRP, and had to go back when I got paid. This absolutely lives up to the hype, and is every bit as good as I remember Bomberger's of past years. Outstanding!
Came with hype, and I understand why, but this was disappointing. I thought i had found something worth grabbing if you happen to see it, and next time I’ll pass. Nothing wrong with it, just generic, bland, no character, like a dish with no spice or flavor.
