It is always interesting to taste whiskies that don't belong to the 5 classic countries. This Brenne Organic Single malt comes from France, and it belongs to Allison Parc, an entreprenuer with a family tradition in spirits. This whisky has been matured in Limousin oak and french cognac casks. Bottled at 40%abv, golden color. On the nose, a little different. Starts with this odd (but strangely attractive) aroma of a vanilla cake that is about to go bad; like it is on the last day you can eat it. It is incredible how accurate that note is. Apple juice and water balloons. Maize; feels young and grainy. Every aroma here reminds me of a circus. Slight Pepper. Then, i get an aroma of some ecuadorian colas, called "Tropical", "Fioravanti" and "Gallito"; which i bet you have your own versions in your countries, they are pink / Red / yellow cola. On the palate, very fruity. It is so fruity that this doesn't feel like whisky, but rather a fruit juice. Peaches, papaya and melon. It is exactly like that. Detergent. Again this circus sensation, not bad, just weird. Aftertaste is more of the same strange stuff. Papaya juice from the ecuadorian mountains. Hints of sulphur. Cheap plastic and malted barley. Overall, this is not bad, but it is not good either. It is a completely different dram from the usual ones you always drink. Mostly fruity, but unlike speyside whiskies, this feels like mountain fruit juice. There is some roughness here and there and everything is not very balanced. I don't think it is off-putting or bad, just strange. You won't sit and drink the whole bottle with a couple of friends. A different experience, my score for it is 72 over 100.
About this bottle
Brenne is a single malt whisky produced with copper alembic stills as opposed to copper pot stills. It ages first in new Limousin oak barrels, used typically to age brandy, before finishing in ex-Cognac casks. They are bottled in batches and never blend the barrels together. Each bottle is numbered with the barrel number from whence it came. Bottle variation will occur, but on average the whisky is 7 years old.

Warm blueberry scone, without the sugar topping, and a hint of unsweetened coconut. Without a doubt, not even close to what I would expect a whiskey to taste like, but wow...it is delicious for what it delivers, which is a whole diffient taste for a whiskey, and for me...I am ok with that! As long as it tastes good even though it was not what my taste buds were expecting...it is still very good to sip. Definitely not for a "whiskey purest", but instead, for a delicious and unexpected change of pace in you glass.
The nose of the whisky is dominated by the scent of blueberry muffins. Beneath that, a faint macadamia nuttiness may be detected. There is just the barest whisp of floral notes, reminiscent of lilacs. On the tongue, the drink is sweet and floral with notes of almond and a hint of demarara sugar in the finish. A unique experience. The influence of the cognac casks is very apparent in the soft sweetness of the drink. It is not at all like a traditional whiskey, but it is very pleasant nonetheless.
Nose: Dried tropical fruit, cough medicine, floral, cow dung, pear drops and strawberry bonbons Palate: Cherry sweets, red liquorice, vanilla, brandy, white wine, black pepper, cinnamon, unripe banana Finish: Medium finish. Pineapple, coconut, chocolate, Cognac/Armagnac, black pepper This does not taste like a whisky at all. Fruity and spicy, with more brandy flacvour than whisky. The cow dung hints on the nose are pretty awful, but not to distraction.
Very unique whisky unlike something I've had before. The nose is fruity and maybe a little bit floral, but light. In the palate there is very fruity and floral flavor. Hard to pick out what exactly, but definitely has some apricot. With light burn on the tongue. The finish is very light and almost non existent, with no real burn in the way down. This is a very light whisky that might be nice if I want a change of pace
Very fruity and floral nose. It is quite pleasant to smell. This would make an appealing perfume or candle. The initial taste is more like wine than whiskey. The big surprise is when you begin to taste the barrel at the end, the woody, nutty flavor doesn't mix well with the sweet and floral. Not bad by a long shot, but not something I am willing to spend another $70 on again, either.
