Review #66 - Whisk(e)y #48 Chill-filtered - Yes Added Colour - Yes ABV - 40% Aspect - Gold-amber colour. Nose - Sweet, malt, caramel, honey, oak, oak spice, slight grainy sharpness, general dried fruit, dryness, dark chocolate. Palate - Slightly creamy, malty and sweet on front-end, turns hot and, spicy, with oak on the mid-palate. As the harshness tames down, there is a burst of fresh orchard fruit sweetness, followed by dried fruit and dryness. Finish - Medium...perhaps even medium-long, dark, dried fruit, malt, raisins, caramel, honey, oaky dryness, pleasant subtle bitterness...dark chocolate after-taste, with crême brulée - caramelised sugar coming in later. I think for a bottle available at 23 EUR / L the finish remarkable, while the nose is also great...although harshness is clearly present on the mid-palate. Significantly better than the overly-bitter classic Black Bush, and it has just become a favourite in this price range, together with the Dewar's 12yo.

Job4scotch 2.5

Grain sweetness, combines in a surprising way with the irish px finished single malt. Grassy notes, hints of buttery biscuits dance with the raisins, and figs from the sherry. The nose gives an accurate depiction of what is to come on the palate and finish. Interesting

rfekete 3.8

Nose: sweet (figs, raisinz), cinnamon, fruit (dates) Palate: sweet upfront, then unexpectedly spicy Finish: long, warming, spicy first, then more like chewy sweetness and nuts, dark chocolate

Bigcisme 3.0

Sweet and fresh smell with a hint of caramel. Most of the taste at the back of the tongue. A little metallic tasting. Very warm all the way down. Neat as usual.

cassos 3.8

Good standard irish whisky at good price. Smooth to drink, nice lasting finish. Would probably prefer a 100% grain though.

igorb 3.3

Spicy fruitcake, orange peel and candied vanilla. Sherry sweetness, raisins and warm oak
