About this bottle

This limited edition Irish whiskey was made in collaboration with Endemol Shine North American and Caryn Mandabach Productions, the official brand owner and series producer for the British drama series Peaky Blinders. It was crafted by Bushmills' Master Distiller Colum Egan who blended together 3, 4, and 5 year-old Irish whiskeys which had aged separately in ex-bourbon barrels. It's bottled at 92 proof without chill-filtration. The bottle is a recreation of a vintage Bushmills bottle which was used as a prop in several episodes of the series. Available in the US as of June 2022.

I would challenge anyone to find a better Irish whiskey under $50. As mainly a bourbon drinker, anything 80 proof just tastes flat. But, until you get to more than $45, everything is 80 proof. Except this. 92 proof, and NCF. For under $30. The only other Irish under $50 I would drink is Teeling and Three Swallows, but those are closer to $40-45. I admit it, the finish is disappointing, but the palate is creamy- great mouthfeel and nice sweet malty-ness. Bourbon cask shines through in the vanilla finish, but it’s too short with a twinge of young ethanol. But much better than any other

Being a scotch and irish whiskey guy i was reluctant to buy this bottle. Reviews were moderate - neither good nor bad - and because its was inexpensive i figured it had to be bottom shelf. And thats exactly where i foubd it one day at the liquor store. I bought it. Even mediocre it was 46%. So what the heck. I biught it. Much better than i thought. Not too sweet, a nice 46% kick and unlike the Distiller notes - i did sip it - neat - and it was very good. Not great. But very good.

NOSE Banana malt, hay, dried orchard fruit, vanilla, honey and a touch of oak. It smells quite nice. It’s not complex, but what’s there is warm, deep and buttery. PALATE Honied orchard fruit, banana chips, hay-like malt, Cornpops, vanilla and caramel with a slightly metallic hint. Again, not complex, but what’s there is buttery and warm. FINISH Med-long -> Honey, dried fruit, malt, vanilla, and orange candy.

Bushmill Prohibition Recipe paying tribute to Peaky Blinders. That’s very interesting. It’s actually very good! It feels young, but it’s very pleasant! On the nose I immediately sense lemongrass, cinnamon and honey. After a while there’s a hint of green apple. The palate has more of lemon, orange peel and honey. It’s very fresh and it brings a bit of cereal towards the end. Very enjoyable! Slainte Mha!

The nose does have ash and that maltiness from the grain. On multiple sniffs you get almost a lemon lime pop like quality to it On first sip it is more viscous than Bushmills original with a typical shortbread cookie like flavor on the tongue, and a bitterness like eating raw walnuts on the finish. Overall i like it, not as shiny as the original and was worth the $29 to me.

Nose: shortbread cookies, vanilla, cereal and apple. Taste: vanilla, sweet wheat and banana. Finish: creamy vanilla upfront that transitions into a brown sugar mid palate with a nice vanilla on the backend that lingers a bit. While this bottle is not sweet like the standard bottle. I feel with the extra ABV% gives it a nice punch with a rich taste.
