A rich, Brandy by Sánchez Romate Distillery in Cadiz, Spain aged for minimum of 25 years in ex-Sherry casks using the solera method. The first barrels were laid down in 1981 to celebrate the bicentennial of the bodega, but the first release did not come until the turn of the century. It has an aromatic birth with notes of plum, sultanas & must; while a rich life adds notes of dates, blackberry preserve, figs, caramel, walnuts & old leather; that leads to a thick & off-dry death of medium length with hints of dried herbs & Sherry. Cardenal Mendoza Carta Real Solera Gran Reserva Brandy de Jerez
About this bottle
The group that owns the parent company of the Cardenal Mendoza brandy, Sánchez Romate, was initially a sherry producer. They first started to distill brandy for family and friends in 1887 and eventually gave in to public demand and began selling them. This brandy is aged in a solera system which used barrels that previously held Pedro Ximenez sherry, a sweet, fortified wine. The average age of the solera is 30 years for this bottling.
