Nose: A subtle smokiness with rich, dark fruits. Palate: This is like a really rich fruit cake - lots of baking spices and fruit - with bits that have an almost burnt taste. It’s more rich than sweet. Finish: Subtle smoke with fruit cake and oak. This is delicious and my favourite rum so far. I’d love to know where the whisky casks are from - I’d guess they previously held Highland or peated Speyside whisky as the smoke is softer and doesn’t seem to add any medicinal notes that I often get from Islays. 8.5/10
