A fresh, floral and agave driven nose. The flavor follows suit, with a clean, vegetal approach. Notes of oak hit at first with a strong intensity intertwined with the agave spirit. The slightly higher proof brings out more tannins along with a softer grape character which appears midway through the journey. This wine coloration adds a whimsical and fruity note creating a livelier finish. All in all, a great release that is indeed memorable.
About this bottle
This bottling from Código 1530 is a "field-to-bottle" tequila as it is made exclusively with agave which was harvested in Jalisco from land owned by the brand. Also of note is the brand's use of French white oak wine barrels. Instead of using them in the maturation process like their other bottlings, the barrels are used in the fermentation process. Then that fermented juice is distilled and bottled at 90 proof into bottles made from 100% Mexican recycled glass. Additive free. Available as of October 2022. (SRP $79)
