Purchased on a lark from Total wine. I looked at the reviews here first, and thought it might be worth a chance. I guess it sort of was. On the nose it's light and sweet. There is a bit of roast agave, slight ethanol, a bit of powdered sugar, and some berry notes from the wine. On the palate it's very light, slightly sweet, with a bit of fruitiness at mid palate and the slightest hint of white pepper on the fade. It's quite delicate In a tequila martini, this is completely squashed. It doesn't work. I wouldn't recommend this as a tequila for any kind of a cocktail as it seems to be a bit on the watery and light side. It has a pleasant enough flavor profile, and it's easy to drink neat. Put it on ice, or add another ingredient and it capitulates immediately. I assume this would be nice if I kept it in the freezer and offered icy little shots to friends around the pool on a hot day. And it doesn't completely fail when sipped neat from a grappa capita. But that doesn't make it worth the price of entry.

Nose - stewed agave, white pepper, sweet vanilla, caramel, clove, nutmeg, tomato, citrus zest, vegetal earthiness, yeast, mild to moderate ethanol burn. Taste - cooked agave, sweet vanilla, salted caramel, white and black pepper, ginger, citrus zest, clove, nutmeg, minerality, allspice, yeast, herbal and floral notes, mild to moderate alcohol bite, finishing medium length with cooked agave, baking spice, creamy vanilla, and citrus flavors. This is very similar to the blanco, if not a bit crisper with some added sparkling citrus notes. The wine barrel presents itself mostly in the finish, where it ends with a slightly more tannic and citric palate than its counterpart. My assessment of the blanco applies here as well, although this is $10 more, so I feel there’s even less value here. Overall, this is a solid sipper, but there are better options in the price range.
Nose - Pickles, Febreeze, flowers, sweet cereal grain, and light ethanol. Palate - Nutty, white grape, honeysuckle, sweet agave, green apple, and sweet pickles. Finish is medium-long with unripe fruits, toasted agave, and medium ethanol. Purchased a blind tequila blanco tasting kit from The Party Source on clearance for $13. This is the second one I've tried from the kit, and it's delightful. I thought the pink aspect might be a gimmick, but the one month in wine barrels really adds a lot. I would definitely consider purchasing a bottle in the future from this brand.
A complex, aged Blanco Tequila by the Codigo 1530 Distillery NOM 1616 in Amatitán, Mexico; rested for one month in French White Oak Napa Cabernet barrels. It has an aromatic birth with floral & vegetal notes; while a bold life adds notes of citrus, agave, hints of red fruits, dried cranberry, apple peel & green bell pepper; that leads to a dry & earthy death of medium length with a hint of salinity. Very light, there is the a predominant green agave flavor on the palate which is well refined along with notes of dry red wine, faint hints of oak, cinnamon and white pepper but then shifts back to a more agave saponin finish which is medium in length. this is something that I find sippable even as a blanco.
