A lot going on with the smell, citrusy, floral, no juniper. Tastes like it smells, slightly overwhelming neat. Delicious with pink grapefruit tonic and orange.
Compelling Gin
About this bottle
Dogfish Head originally began as a brewpub based in the resort town Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. After moving beer production to a larger space in 2002, the company built a distillery in the old space. Today, this distillery is used to make several spirits, including this Compelling Gin. Named for the "medley of compelling ingredients" used in production, this gin is made with the distillery's "Analog Vodka" (made from 2-row barley) as its base spirit. This base spirit is then redistilled with 12 botanicals: juniper, coriander seed, angelica root, black peppercorn, lemon peel, green cardamom, hibiscus, orris root, orange peel, lime peel, kaffir lime leaves and cinnamon. It is bottled at 44% ABV.

The tasting notes described on the bottle are accurate but overpowering. I think the cardamom might be what really jumps out to me. Definitely a mixing gin.
Yes, it’s “different” but I really like this gin. It‘s not for everyone cold and straight, but it’s wonderful in a G&T and French 75.
Black pepper and a little bit of tails on the nose. The flavor is subtly spicy but hangs around in a not great way.
Made one of the best Gin & Tonics I’ve ever made with this and Alpine Tonic from Sweetwater Mountain Elixers!
Very strong flavors, nice cinnamon taste. Ideal for a gin and tonic.
