A blended brandy aged in used barrels from 3 KY bourbon houses, with an oak barrel to mix it up. These bourbon influenced complexities help balance out the surprising fire this brandy brings to the palate. A decent sip on ice, I think where this brandy really shines is in a twisted bourbon cocktail aiming for a bit more fruit, a bit more color.
Initial taste without water was a lot of burn, but very fruity (plums, maybe?) and a hint of caramel. Adding a bit of water tones down the burn, but you still feel the heat. Water also definitely tones down the fruit flavors, unfortunately. I wish there was a bit more balance in this. Very good otherwise. Drinks like a full proof bourbon
This doesn’t taste like the single barrel offering I bought from the gift shop. I’m so thankful for that. This is a way better expression and does not taste like someone’s mistake.
Holy HECK. So much ETOH that if you don't soften it with water you'll likely burn out your tastebuds. But with a touch of water it softens and is nice.
Notes of…ethanol. Which I suppose is accurate to the “bourbon” experience. But some grape aftertaste
