Never had a cognac above XOs..but I have to say that Napoleon was my first cognac 43 years ago. Now it seems hard to find. It is still my favorite with the richest flavor.
Courvoisier Napoléon Fine Champagne Cognac
About this bottle
Napoléon Bonaparte, so the story goes, took several casks of Courvoisier for his exile on St. Helena. This bottling was first released in 1910. Courvoisier is the first cognac house to use Napoléon on their labels as a way of stating it was older than their VSOP, but younger than their XO. Other cognac houses soon followed suit.

Clean, smooth, simple and sweet. An elegance that doesn't demand big bold complexity. Something about it helps it stand above a standard rough offering. A great dram indeed!
This is a decent cognac, it has fruity and floral notes on the nose and this comes through in the taste. It's moderately dry and somewhat sharp. Perhaps more for cocktails?
Just finished the bottle with a fine Hoyo do Monterey cigar, it was a delight! Smooth on the sweet side with a great fruit finish.. one of my favorites.
4.5 stars. Has a very rich flavor profile of ginger, prunes, spices, and caramel but is thin on palate and has a weak finish
