After all the talk about Armgnac recently on the forum I thought I'd crack this one open. Hmm, it wasn't quite what I remembered Armagnac to be but then I think my memories have been colored by recent Cognac tasting. Its a very earthy oaky experience, time in cask is meant to smooth the edges of the spirits roughness but in this case I think its been a bit overdone. You get rich xmas fruit, burnt caramel strongly coming through, the bitter powerful oakey earthiness coming over the top. It's an interesting experience to try something layed down over a decade before I was born but a drams enough for now I think.
