GoodSpiritsNews 5.0

Our initial impression is of a solid, somewhat heavy bodied and self assured whiskey. The blend of two styles of spirit creates a bookend of lows and highs on the palate. Rich and deep malt, is counterbalanced by the light and whispy single grain. Even with the single grain adding brightness, there is a sense of venerability rarely found in typical expressions. Lastly, the ex-brandy cask aging adds just a light brushing of dry, yet fruity coloration. This is a very well done whiskey that should please any lover of Irish.

NOSE Spiced dried orchard fruit, malt, copper, vanilla, banana chips and a touch of minerality. Not a ton of cognac influence on the nose, just a few hints and whispers. PALATE Malt, banana taffy, baking spice, dried orchard fruit, nuts and a touch of raisin and candy sweetness. There is a bit more of the cognac coming through with a heavier spice and richer sweetness. FINISH Medium-short -> Malt, fruit, baking spice and vanilla.

Egan’s Conviction 10 definitely shows it’s more mature. It’s more viscous and oily with a great nose. And there I got ginger ale first and then peach and a hint of pear. On the palate ginger ale combined with peach, like a peach cobbler dessert with ginger ale. It’s a grear dram and I enjoyed it a lot!

Sweet vanilla and grain on the nose, vanilla, fruit, and cookie on the palate, sweet citrus zest on finish
